NTI BizPro Awards recognises outstanding Omani Business Professionals of 2018

The best and brightest of a record 200 nominees for the title of Business Professionals of the Year 2018, were chosen from among the top five finalists at the 12th Edition of the NTI BizPro Awards held at the Sheraton Oman hotel in the presence of an eminent gathering that included His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Abdullah Al Bakri, Minister of Manpower, His Highness Sayyid Tarik bin Shabib Al Said, Steven Thomas, CEO, Renaissance Services, and several prominent business leaders.

The winners of NTI BizPro 2018 are Al Moatasam Al Barwani, Section Head – Business Performance, Ooreroo, and Janaab Sayyida – Nadira Al Said, Deputy Senior Manager, E-Channels, Alizz Islamic Bank. The winners’ trophies were presented by His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Abdullah Al Bakri, Minister of Manpower; and their scholarships were presented by Steven Thomas, CEO, Renaissance Services.

The winners were picked from among five finalists, who also included Adam Sulaiman Al Jabry, Assistant Manager of Marketing and Branding, Alizz Islamic Bank; Sulaiman Ali Al Ofi, Manager – Service Excellence, Bank Dhofar; and Zahra Abdulamir Saied, Head of Risk Analytics, Bank Dhofar. The finalists also received certificates from His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Abdullah Al Bakri, Minister of Manpower.

NTI BizPro Awards is a unique platform to recognize and honour young Omani professional achievers of today, as well as to serve as a launch-pad for the corporate leaders of tomorrow. The Awards is designed to test and showcase the ability and passion for excellence of talented young Omanis in the corporate world.

Renaissance Services has presented the NTI BizPro scholarships to winners since the awards’ inception. KPMG, global audit, tax and advisory firm, is the independent evaluation partner for NTI BizPro Awards. KPMG follows a multi-level assessment process, testing the aspiring candidates on their competence in various parameters and in real life simulations. As part of the #InspiredToSucceed theme of the awards this year, 20% of the final scoring was left to a ‘People’s Choice’ campaign on social media platforms, with the intention of creating greater awareness and participation.

The Keynote Speaker for NTI BizPro Awards 2018 was Omani Racing Legend, Ahmad Al Harthy, and in keeping with tradition, the hosts for the ceremony were Ahlam Al Tauqi, Senior Contract Engineer, PDO, and Shahad Al Wahaibi, Brand and Communications Manager, Shell Oman – both, winners of NTI BizPro Awards 2017.

Two big announcements were also made based on the #InspiredToSucceed theme. The launch of NTI Bizpro Alumni, announced by Hana Al Kharusi – winner of BizPro Award in 2013 – and currently, General Manager, Corporate Banking at Ahli Bank; and the launch of TECHPRO OMAN – Conference & Awards, announced by Musallam Al Mandhari, CEO of OPAL.

“The BizPro Alumni network is a body that will be spearheaded by former winners of BizPro Awards and like-minded associates. Our first initiative will be a roadshow at colleges and universities across the country to inspire the young professionals of tomorrow to realize their potential, to challenge themselves, to innovate and seek higher goals. We will also identify opportunities in the private sector and promote the jobs potential in the private sector.

“Under the umbrella of the alumni network, we will also launch the BizPro Academy, an online digital platform which will provide initially internship opportunities and eventually expand into a learning portal to continue to inspiring the young professionals,” said Ms Hana.

“Skilled technicians represent one of the largely untapped category of job opportunities for young Omanis – and is a prime focus for the Omanisation drive. TECHPRO OMAN is a two-day event comprising of seminars, workshops, exhibitions, and learning sessions that are meant to deliberate the challenges, opportunities and best practices in technical training and jobs through the active engagement of Omani technicians, employers, government agencies, industry bodies and other stakeholders,” said Mr Musallam.

The TECHPRO OMAN initiative will be spearheaded by Oman Society of Petroleum Services (OPAL), and will conclude with awards for the best Omani technicians across industries in Oman.
